A trip to Bulgaria - Part II, Rila Monastery

Rila Mountain and Rila Monastery

Hello again! :))

This post is dedicated to our quite interesting and full of adrenaline trip to the Rila monastery, which we visited this Sunday, during the celebration of Ilinden..
This is a holy place, which was found in 9th century by the hermit and saint Ivan Rilski, after the Bulgarian Rulers accepted the Christianity... As He says in His testimony, when He came to the desert of Rila, He was the only human being there, and He lived with the beasts, the sky was His roof, the ground was His bed, the plants were His food, a small cave up in the mountain was His shelter in storms...
As the monastery is a huge and vivid example of the traditional Bulgarian medieval monasteries from the period of the First and the Second Bulgarian Empire, the small "hole", which leads out of the cave is a place, where legends say only a person with pure soul can go through... As the very monastery, hugged between the skirts of the might Rila mountain and the strong stone walls and battle towers, impresses You with the rich and soft pictures, icons and every kind of ecclesiastic arts, the cave and the hole for pure souls just strikes You with its simplicity and... purifying powers...
When we climbed up to the "hole" and we were quietly arguing who to be first, cause no one wanted to be first, i just turned left and began to climb up the small stairs and my friends and my family..they were behind me and i was leading them...Till the moment i entered the cave and only the single lonely flame of a tiny candle was enlightening our way deep inside and at one moment everything was so dark that i wasn't able to see anything and i felt fear...for a first time in my life i felt how it is to shiver by fear..not knowing where to go, not knowing where you are stepping, just touching around like a blind, kneeling and crawling in the low space between rocks... and not that the path is long..but the fear of your sins is big... Nikko was walking behind me and i just whispered to Him "I'm afraid", but He just pushed me forward to the light, where a piece of sky was smiling... And there, climbing through the rocks, already seeing the sky, at the end for a piece of a moment i just asked myself...do i dare? But my friends and family were behind me..i couldn't stop, i couldn't give up.. and i reached it! Oh, God, thank you for the help! And thank You for showing me what is fear and what is forgiveness, and what is peace...
Everything there was magnificent! And enchanting! And full of that energy that only holy places emit around like a circle of pure life...something which You almost can touch...

And here are some shots of the Rila mountain, the monastery and the hole.... ;)
It is very beautiful place to visit and i recommend it in 200%
Enjoy the Second Part of the photo trip!

A trip to Bulgaria - Part I, Veliko Tarnovo

The Great Fortress of Veliko Tarnovo

Hello Everyone! :)

I am here again, finally! And i missed all of You!
The Last few days a friend of mine arrived to BG for his vacation from FR and i was pretending to be His guiding girl in our trips to different places in BG. So, we succeeded to visit in 3 days Veliko Tarnovo, the Rila Monastery and Plovdiv and it was great! I dont really remember when was the last time i traveled so much withing 3 days in Bulgarian territories! So, as my brother said: "Thank You, Nikko, for coming to Bulgaria and through You me also to visit those wonderful paces again, after so many years!" :)

This post will be devoted to out trip to Veliko Tarnovo... Enjoy our photo trip! :)

this is a girl with a piece of Eden flowers in front of the front gates of the fortress in Veliko Tarnovo, which was a capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire since 1186 a. C. till 1393 a. C.
the old town of Tarnovo, which You can see from the battle towers of the fortress

this was used as a "Place of executions" for crimes against the Tsar, the Country, for betraying and so on..

As the custom says - there was a Church on the highest place of every Bulgarian medieval city....

The famous "Tower of Balduin", where the poor crusader spent the rest of His unfortunate life...

a sight from the northern gates of the fortress, showing us the beautiful river Jantra, curving elegantly around the walls and also the Church, where You can find the Pillar of Khan Omurtag and its inscription, which i am here now quoting:
"...Even if a man lives well, he dies and another one comes into existence. Let the one who comes later upon seeing this inscription remember the one who had made it. And the name is Omurtag, Kanasubigi..."

me and Nikko
a monument in old town of the Great Tarnovo

a sight of the old town and the sweet houses, built up in that unique stairs like way...

I hope You liked them.... :)
And i wish You next time you to show me pics from there, cause it is quite a pleasing and unexplainable feeling, when You go there and step to the paths people used hundreds and thousands years ago....:)

Yours, Eden... :)

student no more...

yes, sadly but fact!

today was the defending of my thesis "Administration of Ministry of Justice" in my Second major, Public Administration... After my exam of italian passed on sunday, today (or yesterday) i was almost in despair.. i had a thesis, written by me for about a weekend one year ago, with not perfectly updated legislative content, with a not excellent recension, with a brain, boiled in the summer heat.... and after 3 hours waiting for the Faculty and Academic councils to fulfill their job, finally was given the opportunity to defend my thesis... ok... partially.. cause with the huge amount of pages and the last days news on the EU critics about the Juridical system in BG, all the three of the Examining Committee were asking me about that..and i defended myself, not my thesis, saying that i cant comment hypothetical EU reports or articles in newspapers.. So, they said - ok then, You are into the system- tell us.. and i just flooded them into what have seen during my internships...

And the result was that i have 6 for the state exam and i am graduating with 5.81/6 my second major! Higher than my first one! Such a shame! :D

When the Examining Committee announced me their decision about my thesis, the Professors said that they had no argue about my esteem, wished me luck and with one signature my status studendi was terminated and cut off...

This was the ending of 18 years of studying... This is all i have done in my life... this is all i know how to do... This is in what i am best... *pouts* weird is this feeling...

I want to go abroad, study more, maybe another mastership, or PhD... but how? Sometimes i wonder if i am worthy indeed..

time for bed!

nite!

CliVit says:
the thesis muse must be around
Eden says:

Eden says:

CliVit says:
well the ideal is to rest well before
CliVit says:
I've never been able to manage that though
Eden says:
i was talking about the muse...that maybe she is taking a nap at the moment
Eden says:
*chuckles.. neither did i!
CliVit says:
hehe ok I see
CliVit says:
we have to make some noise to wake the muse up
CliVit says:
how long does your defending last?
Eden says:
usually, when a lot of people defend.. it takes them 4-5 minutes
Eden says:
but this time i will be the only one..
CliVit says:
ok I understand the problem
Eden says:
and what is it?
CliVit says:
it will take more than 5 minutes?
CliVit says:
I'm not sure if it's a problem for you though
Eden says:
well....
Eden says:
there are a lot of probs...
Eden says:
1st..the topic of my thesis is very stupid
Eden says:
2nd. my scientific adviser advised me nothing, so, my thesis has to thesis given, no aims, no final opinion..nothing.. it is like a book..
Eden says:
3. i wrote it one year ago and not only that i dont remember what i wrote about, but also 80%of my thesis is..retelling laws.. and laws are now changed..but not in my thesis..
Eden says:
4.tomorrow the recension will be ready..
Eden says:
and i hope he/she won't notice my mistakes and will be good with me and my thesis..but if not?
Eden says:
5. today was my exam in italian and i still have no ready resume, which i have to know for tuesday, and besides.... i have 100 pages for to learn the structures and function of the administration of Ministry of Justice and all the changes since 1878 till now...
Eden says:
:)
Eden says:
so...
CliVit says:
taking a nap was not that a good advice maybe
Eden says:
6. the big problem is..what will they ask? what if i dont remember it?
Eden says:
i already took a nap
CliVit says:
you're fresh and ready now!
CliVit says:
and the muse will come in the end
Eden says:
i am going for ice cream
Eden says:
you know..... ice cream helps for everything..
CliVit says:
I know! you taught me
Eden says:
thinking of it...i have to add this to the list for the ice cream cure...
Eden says:
ice cream- brings the thesis muse around :D
CliVit says:
sure it does
Eden says:
*blushes..did i?
CliVit says:
that's proven
Eden says:
haha, here still not
Eden says:
but...................... i trust the thesis for the ice cream...
Eden says:
see, it is already working... one day i could write a thesis for the ice cream as an universal cure..
Eden says:
:)))))
CliVit says:
the muse is already knocking at the door
Eden says:
yeah, yeah
Eden says:
i am running out for the ice cream before she is gone :P
Eden says:
kisses
Eden says:
later
CliVit says:
bye

Jim...

Today, on 3rd July 1971 Jim Morrison was found dead in his bath tube, in a hotel room in Paris... Jim est mort...
But years after that we, the lizard king followers, we still remember Him, listen to His music and feel His undying magic..

The Frames - Falling Slowly

This song was a very important part of a nice movie i saw few monts ago thanks to Oggi and His Irish friend...
By a chance i found it an i am sharing it with You, also recommending the movie :)

It is the best choice for not famous musicians, who are inspired and learn to believe... :)

lazy summer thoughts over the sticking to the Law...

The first thing that a girl learns when she reaches second year at the law school or university, is all is different, quite different from the sophisticated, tender and inspiring words of the spirit of law and virtues and honour…I Everything that a girl knows, everything that a girl has been taught loses its purpose, its meaning. The patient lessons of our professors fade away, replaced by the harsh new reality and the mere need of surviving by being disobedient, not quite sophisticated and pleasing not inside… And everything is changed, save for one – the general principles of law, which seem to be universal, no matter which preambule you are reading and which country you are inhabiting…

There is an old wisdom said by an ancient wage – ius est ars boni et aequi (the law is an art of beauty and virtue).. And it is really so.. The principles of law, perfect in their aim, are really a wonder, created by ideal minds for ideal conditions. And if we were ideal, the world of the Earth would have been a better place to live…and more boring.. Because the Laws are logical and rational, but applied over irrational individuals with illogical behaviour. This is the reason that a law is just a frame of acting, but it cant stop anyone from doing better or worse, or at least to follow the limits given… And in there is hidden the charm of the surprise, the countless nuances of the gray between the two pillars of humanity – the Black and the White. And we are those, who create the variety, by making choices – how to stick to the Law.

But sticking to the Law, to a given order or to a settled restriction also needs to know it. You cant follow a law which You don’t know. It is true that ignorantia legis neminem excusat, but this is where forgiveness appears, and mercy. For the purposes of laws are different – not only to create a frame to be followed and thus to give a freedom that not offend someone else’s freedom, and so – all to be partially restricted in our freedom at the sake of the mutual wellbeing – but also - to remind people in advance – what would be happened to them if they cant respect the others – this is the general prevention that excuses no one, but also saves our heads not to be served on a plate.

One of the fathers of the ancient greek theories of “Crime and punishment” is Aristotelis, who says that it is not wrong an ignorant to make a mistake, to break a law, but it is wrong not to be punished, for he will never learn what is the correct and by not being punished, he will never reach the calocagatia – the mixture of physical and mental beauty in one. So, it is not only a right, but even a human duty of society to punish the offender of the Law – for his own good.

The ancient romans based their Law system after the idea – errare humanum est- and people quote it even today, but many of them forget how it continues – sed perseverare diabolicum est.. And it is really so true. Because everyone mistakes and only the guidance of the wiser in patience and restrictions can lead the girl to the paths of perfection...
